We understand that health is a very personal and private subject and we want our users to feel comfortable using the Site to whatever degree they see fit. Therefore, with the help of the change:healthcare membership, we strive to maintain the highest level of privacy and integrity. We recognize the importance of sharing and comparing healthcare costs and experiences, and welcome suggestions on how we can improve.
This Privacy Policy identifies what information we gather from you, how we may use or disclose that information, and how we work to protect your privacy, among other things.

INFORMATION
You may use and interact with the Site on multiple levels. Visitors may freely browse information provided for public use. If you wish to interact with the information or post comments, we require you to register as a member. When you register to use the Site, we ask for and store your email address and ask you to create a user name and password. You will have the option to add other personal information into your profile.
Information that may be added to profiles:
- Health issues
- Providers (Doctors, Hospitals, etc.)
- Comments and quality reviews
- Prescriptions
- Biographical information including gender, age, and/or location
Profile information by default shall be completely private; if you specifically allow it, the profile information will be made public for other users to see. We may collect, for the purposes of reporting, the information you disclose regarding any providers, experience, prescriptions, health issues, or other areas of the site. This information may be used to present aggregate information to other users. It will not be possible for such aggregate information to be linked to you. We may further collect any information that you voluntarily provide to us through responses to surveys, questionnaires and the like and through your use of information storage facilities on our sites. The Bill Management portion is provided only to members who wish to pay the fee for use.
COOKIES
Cookies help a website distinguish a user’s browser as a previous visitor to the site and save and remember any preferences that may have been set by the user on a previous visit to the site. Currently, websites use cookies to enhance a user’s visit; in general, cookies can securely store a user’s ID and password, personalize home pages, or identify which parts of a site have been visited. change:healthcare does not collect any information or track any site use using cookies.
You may personally set your web browser to notify you of cookie placement requests. You may also decline cookies completely. In addition, you can delete files that contain cookies. Note: If you delete cookies that have been sent from our Site, this will cause you to reenter data upon logging in.
SEND TO A FRIEND
If you choose to use our referral service to tell a friend about our site, we will ask you for your friend’s name and email address. We will automatically send your friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the site. change:healthcare does not store this information and uses it for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email.
USE OF INFORMATION
change:healthcare understands the importance of privacy in healthcare. When aggregated and used anonymously, we believe that public information is beneficial to other users in evaluating health care costs and quality. We use your email address and/or other personal information to identify and register you as a member of the Site. We also use your information to communicate back to you, update you on our services and benefits, and to personalize our Site for you. Additionally, we may also use your information to calculate aggregate information, which may be presented to other users regarding providers, health issues, prescriptions and/or insurances. It will not be possible for such aggregate information to be linked to you.
Credit card numbers are used only for payment processing and are not retained on our system without your permission.
From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you for feedback on the Site. At a minimum, we always give you the opportunity to opt out of receiving such information in the future by changing your privacy settings.
DISCLOSURE OF PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION
Personally identifying information, which you select to keep private in your profile settings, will remain private to other members of the change:healthcare community. change:healthcare will never sell, rent, or give away any information to unaffiliated companies that will identify you as a member of the site. We provide such information to our subsidiaries, affiliated companies or other trusted businesses or persons for the purpose of processing information on our behalf. We require that these parties agree to process such information based on our instructions and in compliance with this Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.
change:healthcare and its subsidiaries will not disclose to unaffiliated companies any information it gathers from you which could be used to identify or contact you except as set forth in this policy. Any personal information provided to entities affiliated with the change:healthcare Site will be treated in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy and any applicable laws.
If you make a comment on the Site, you should be aware that any personally identifiable information you submit there can be read, collected, or used by other users of these forums, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit in this fashion. Comments can be deleted at any time by clicking on the delete button.
In the event that change:healthcare undergoes a business transition such as a merger, being acquired by another company, or selling a substantial portion of its business assets, users’ personal information may become part of the assets managed under the new corporation .
OTHER INFORMATION
We may provide to third parties information about you that does not allow you to be identified or contacted. This information might include collective profiles of our user groups and their activities and preferences. Such information may also be used in describing our Site and services to prospective partners, advertisers and other third parties, and for other lawful purposes. change:healthcare inc. reserves the right to supply anonymized data to partners for research or commercial purposes.
LEGAL DISCLOSURES

CHANGING YOUR INFORMATION
You may change the personal information in your profile at any time by clicking on the link entitled “My Profile” and then clicking on the edit button. New information will either replace or supplement previous information, with regards to the instance and specification of the update or removal. While confidentiality rules apply to certain materials, the member or visitor does not own the data contained on the Site.
CHILDREN
change:healthcare conforms to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act [COPPA]. We will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without parental consent. When we do receive information (with parental consent) from users under the age of 13, we will never voluntarily share their personally identifiable information with third parties, regardless of the stated preference at the time of registration.
PRIVACY SETTINGS
change:healthcare offers variations in privacy levels. Privacy levels must be selected and changed by members; member information is private by default and can be marked public by the member in the profile section.
We have structured the Site so that you can visit without identifying yourself or disclosing any personal information if you so choose. However, your access may be limited to browsing and searching.
Please remember that any information (including personal and medical information) that you mark as publicly accessible in your profile (such as a health issues, comments, providers, and/or prescriptions) is not subject to this Privacy Policy and will be seen by other Site members. This information will never be available to visitors, except for the user name associated with comments. Also, if you leave the Site via a link to a third party site, any information you reveal on that site is not subject to this Privacy Policy -- you should consult the privacy policies of each site you visit.
SECURITY ISSUES
Security is a matter of protecting data from unintended use, misuse, and/or accidental or unauthorized alteration. We have installed a number of security measures to protect the confidentiality of your personal information. These include:

Unfortunately, change:healthcare cannot guarantee the identity of other members who participate on the Site. We furthermore cannot authenticate any information provided by other members pertaining to comments and quality purposes.
Regardless of the security precautions taken by you or by us, “perfect security” does not exist on the Internet. However, change:healthcare does utilize the highest possible commercially responsible technical precautions to help keep your data secure and as private as you specify.
IP ADDRESSES
Computer identification over the Internet is conducted with IP addresses. This allows other computers and servers to recognize and communicate with each other. Our servers automatically record information when you visit our Site, including the URL, IP address, browser type and language, and the date and time of your request. We collect IP addresses to conduct system administration, report aggregate information to sponsors and advertisers, and to conduct site analysis. If a visitor requests pages from change:healthcare, change:healthcare servers enter a visitor's IP address into a log. To maintain visitor anonymity, we do not associate IP addresses with records containing personal information.
